Consists of a combination of a compound
sentence and a complex sentence.
Example
As the dog howled, one cat sat on the
fence, and the other licked its paws.
Compound
Sentence : The dog barked, and the cat ran
away.
Add
the dependent clause : “When he saw the cat”
The
dog barked when he saw the cat, and the cat ran away.
Add
the dependent clause : “until she was safe.”
The
dog barked when he saw the cat, and the cat ran away until she was safe.
