SIMPLE SENTENCE
- A simple sentence, also called an independent clause, contains a subject and a verb, and it expresses a complete thought.
- An independent clause (or main clause) is a clause that can stand by itself, also known as a simple sentence. An independent clause contains a subject and a verb; it makes sense by itself.
- The students play football every afternoon. (the subject is "students" and the verb is "play")
- Alex went to school yesterday. (the subject is "Alex" and the verb is "went")
- I drive the car. (the subject is "I" and the verb is "drive")
